Water Sports at Lake of the Ozarks

It should come as no surprise that some of the best recreation in the area is found out on the water. From Boating at the Lake of the Ozarks to parasailing and other water sports, there are plenty of ways to make lifelong memories here.

We've put together a list of some of the possible activities as well as some recommendations for rental shops in the area.

Boating and Personal Watercraft

The most popular pastime here is to get in a boat and set sail upon the lake. While many boats are there to find the perfect fishing spot, just as many, if not more, are on the water just to have a great time.

Cruising about the lake can be exciting, but you'll find that there is a wide range of recreation you can engage in while boating at Lake of the Ozarks, such as:
  • Towable Tubing
  • Water-skiing
  • Wakeboarding
  • Sunbathing
  • Boatgating (similar to tailgating)
  • Get takeout for dinner on the lake
  • Cruising on a Personal Watercraft (PWC)

For those interested in learning how to wavesurf or wakeboard, check out Kirby's School of Wake where you can no-pressure coaching from a professional wakeboarder with decades of experience.

If you are looking for an affordable way to enjoy a day at the lake, You'll find a host of quality boat rentals at Point Randall. From Tritoons to fishing boats, we have a craft for you that can fit your occasion.

If you are looking for wave runners, jet skis, or other PWC, you can find rentals nearby at Paradise Marina and Watersports

Paddleboarding and Kayaking

Sometimes, having a good time means working up a sweat. When it comes to Lake of the Ozarks kayaking and paddle boarding, all you need for some great exercise is a quality kayak/board, a paddle, and great weather. Thankfully, you can regularly find all three around the lake.

For the best experience, especially if you are a beginner, you should stay around designated "no-wake zones." These areas are close to shore and tend to be safer as you won't need to worry about speeding boats out on the open water.

If you don't own your own paddleboard or kayak, don't fret. You can find quality rentals for kayaks and paddleboards for a reasonable price here at Point Randall.

Parasailing

If you want a truly unforgettable adventure, give parasailing a try. After being attached to a large chute, you'll be hoisted hundreds of feet into the air for an unparalleled view of the lake and the surrounding area. You'll also be able to dip down, plunging toward the water at a relaxing or adrenaline pumping speed.

Paradise Parasail is the premier company for parasailing adventures, having been in operation for more than 40 years. You'll be attached to their signature smiley face chute and will be flown by captains licensed by the United States Coast Guard.

Fishing Guides

The Lake of the Ozarks offers some truly special fishing opportunities. Anglers come from all over to for the plentiful populations of bass, catfish, and more.

However, the lake is over 93 miles long, meaning that it can be hard to find the best fishing spot for the fish that you are trying to catch. It may be a good idea to hire one of the many fishing guides in the area, especially if you are new or inexperienced angler. An experienced guide can help take a lot of the work out of a fishing expedition, and help your trip be more fruitful.
